How to Make a Paper Caterpillar |
This super easy and fun project uses materials you may already have around your home. |
Suggested Materials: |
* Sheets of thin card or paper (2 different colours) |
Suggested Instructions: |
Step 1: Cut 14 strips of paper approximately 4cm x 20cm. (The exact size of your strips is not important). These will form your caterpillar’s body. |
Step 2: Link your strips together one-by-one to form a long chain of alternating colours. Loop your first strip into a circle and secure it with glue, sticky tape or staples. Loop your second strip over the top and through your first circle like the links in a chain. Repeat this process until you have linked all parts of your caterpillar’s body. |
Step 3: Cut a circle approximately 8cm in diameter (the exact size is not important). Use your felt-tip markers to draw your caterpillar’s face complete with eyes, eyeballs, eyebrows, nose, mouth, teeth and even rosy cheeks! Whatever you like! |
Step 4: Attach your caterpillar’s face to one end of your chain using glue, sticky tape or staples. |
Step 5: Cut 2 thin antennae approximately 5cm long. Attach them to your caterpillar’s head. |
Step 6: To turn your caterpillar into a puppet, simply tie a piece of string through each end of the chain (optional). |
Step 7: Show your class your amazing caterpillar! |
