How to Make a Paper Doll Chain |
This classic childhood craft project is fun and easy and uses materials you may already have around your home. |
Suggested Materials: |
* 1 x sheet of standard office paper |
Suggested Instructions: |
Step 1: Cut your paper lengthways into 2 long strips approximately 8cm wide (this does not need to be exact). Join your 2 strips in the middle with sticky tape. |
Step 2: Take your paper and fold it from left to right, in 6cm wide folds, to create a concertina effect. First fold your paper to the right 6cm, then flip it over and fold it to the left 6cm, then flip it over and fold it to the right 6cm. Repeat until your paper has been firmly folded from end to end. Cut off any excess paper. |
Step 3: Draw a basic outline of a person on top of your folded paper ie. a round head, 2 straight arms that extend off the edge of the paper on both sides (no hands), a body and two legs. |
Step 4: Cut around the outline of your person while your paper is still folded. Remember, your person should have 2 straight arms that extend off the edge of your paper on both sides. These are the places at which your paper will remain joined to make |
Step 5: Unfold your paper to reveal a chain of paper dolls holding hands. |
Step 6: Decorate your paper dolls with faces, hair and clothes if you wish (or simply leave them plain). |
Step 7: Fold your paper dolls and take them to school. Unfold them in front of your class! Amazing! |
Note: You can make paper chains of many other things eg. butterflies and hearts. Just be sure to leave one section on each side uncut so that your chain remains joined. |
