How to Make a Family Tree

This fun and interesting project uses materials you may already have around your home.

Suggested Materials:

* 1 x sheet of poster size cardboard (white or coloured)
* Sheets of white paper
* Green paint
* Red paint
* Brown paint (note: red and green mixed together make brown)
* Paintbrushes
* Photographs of brothers and sisters, parents and grandparents
* Glue
* Scissors
* Pencil

Suggested Instructions:

Step 1: Take your cardboard and draw and paint a wide brown tree trunk in the middle. Then draw and paint a large green leafy top to your tree in the shape of a big fluffy cloud. Let the paint dry.

Step 2: Draw and cut heart shapes from your white paper. All hearts should be large enough to hold a photograph of each family member. You will need individual hearts for yourself, siblings, parents and grandparents. Paint your hearts red and let them dry.

Step 3: Glue your hearts onto your family tree in three rows. At the top of the tree is the row including yourself and your siblings. The middle row is for your parents. The bottom row is for your grandparents. Let the glue dry.

Step 4: Now glue a photograph of each individual family member onto each heart. You can write their name below too if you like!

Step 5: Show your class your family tree!
