How to Make a Crazy Finger Puppet

These fun finger puppets are very quick and easy to make using materials you may already have around your home.

Suggested Materials:

* Pipe cleaners (different sizes and colours)
* Pom poms (different sizes and colours)
* Craft glue (strong enough to hold the pieces of your puppet together)
* Sheet of white paper
* Felt-tip markers in a variety of colours
* Scissors
* Plastic wiggly eyes (optional)
* Wool (optional)

Suggested Instructions:

Step 1: Make your puppet’s body by tightly coiling a long thick pipe cleaner around the length of an adult's index finger to form a cone-shape. Remove and put your puppet’s body to one side.

Step 2: Make your puppet’s head by glueing a pair of plastic wiggly eyes onto a head-size pom pom. If you don’t have wiggly eyes, draw a pair of eyes on paper, then colour, cut and glue them in position.

Step 3: Make your puppet’s nose by glueing on a very small
pom pom.

Step 4: To give your puppet arms (optional), slide a thin piece of pipe cleaner through the upper coils of your puppet's body, from one side to the other. Cut the arms to the desired length and bend the tips back to make small hands (also to hide the
sharp points).

Step 5: To give your puppet a tail (optional), glue a small pom pom onto the lower back of your puppet’s body. For a long tail, attach a thin piece of pipe cleaner to the bottom coil of your puppet’s body. Cut and bend back the tip of the tail to hide the sharp point.

Step 6: To give your puppet short hair (optional) glue on a raggedy mop of wool. For long hair, loosely knot some strands of wool together in the middle and glue them on top of your puppet’s head so that the hair falls down each side of your puppet’s face.

Step 7: Now attach your puppet’s head to it’s body. Run a circle of glue around the top of your pipe-cleaner body. Press your puppet’s head firmly to the body and let the glue dry.

Step 8: Show your crazy finger puppet (or puppets) to your class!

Step 9: The basic instructions and materials above can be modified to make a range of animals, aliens, people, princes and princesses etc. Paper ears can be added. A strip of wool for a mouth. Add your own creativity and there's no end to the variations you can make!
