Magic Hole Trick |
This magic trick is amazing and fun and uses materials you may already have around your home. |
Suggested Materials: |
* 1 x small round coin (eg. Australian 5 cent piece) |
Suggested Instructions: |
Step 1: At home, rule and cut your piece of paper into a strip about 10cm x 20cm (this does not need to be exact). |
Step 2: Fold your paper in half lengthways and make a firm crease down the middle. Then open your paper and lay it flat on a table. |
Step 3: Take your small coin (eg. 5 cent piece) and place it so that it is positioned over the middle of the folded line in your paper. Trace around your coin with your pencil. |
Step 4: Fold your paper in half again and use your scissors to cut a circular hole following the line you have drawn. |
Step 5: Unfold your paper. Take your larger coin (eg. 20 cent piece) and show your "audience" that your coin is larger than the hole in the paper. Hold your coin horizontally and gently push it against the hole to demonstrate that the coin is much too big to fit through the hole without tearing the paper. |
Step 6: Now fold your paper again. Take your larger coin and place it into the middle of your paper with the bottom of your coin cradled in the hole. |
Step 7: Place your thumbs firmly on either side of your coin at the front (on the outside of your paper). Place your index and middle fingers firmly on either side of your coin at the back (on the outside of your paper). |
Step 8: Now gently pull up on both sides of the paper at the same time (following the curve of the coin). Gently pull up and release, pull up and release. Repeat this action until the coin magically drops through the hole. |
Step 9: Hold up your paper to show your "audience" that there is not a single tear in it. Amazing! |
Step 10: Practice this trick at home until you feel confident before trying it at school. |
Step 11: At school, repeat Step 5 to Step 9. |
