Simple Card Trick |
This magic trick is fun and easy and uses materials you may already have around your home. |
Suggested Materials: |
* 1 x deck of cards |
Suggested Instructions: |
Step 1: At home, take your deck of cards and sort all the red cards into 1 pile and all the black cards into another pile. |
Step 2: At school, place your 2 piles face down on a table, side-by-side. Your audience should not know that you have a red pile and a black pile. |
Step 3: Choose a volunteer to come forward. Fan out the cards in your red pile, on the table and face down. |
Step 4: Ask your volunteer to choose 1 of the cards from this pile. Ask them to silently have a look at the card and then show the audience. At this point you should stand behind your volunteer so that you do not see the card. |
Step 5: Now fan out your black cards, on the table and face down. Turn your back and ask your volunteer to place their chosen card into this pile face down. You must not see the card. |
Step 6: Turn around. Thank your volunteer and ask them to return to their seat. |
Step 7: Now tidy both piles of cards. Pick up your black pile and place it on top of your red pile to form one neat deck of cards. |
Step 8: Now flick through your cards (without revealing the colour pattern in your deck). The red card chosen by your volunteer will be somewhere amongst the black cards in the top half of your deck. As soon as you see a red card in amongst a group of black cards you know you have found the right card. |
Step 9: Hold up the red card chosen by your volunteer. Incredible! |
Note: Practice this trick at home before trying it at school. |
