Coloured Crayons Trick

This fun and easy magic trick uses materials you may already have around your home.
Remember, it's always a good idea to practice at home first!

Suggested Materials:

* 3 x crayons of different colours but equal size (small crayons work best for small hands)

Suggested Instructions:

Step 1: At home, take your 3 crayons and make a small identifying mark on each one. Each mark should be different and should be so small that it is undetectable to your audience eg. a small paper rip, a small piece missing, a small hole. Be sure to remember which crayon has which identifying mark.

Step 2: At school, show your audience your 3 different coloured crayons and then place them on a nearby table.

Step 3: Choose a volunteer from your audience to come forward. Turn around and place your hands behind your back. Ask your volunteer to mix up the order of the crayons and place them in your hands.

Step 4: Turn back around to face your audience. Thank your volunteer and ask them to return to their seat.

Step 5: Now choose a second volunteer from your audience to call out the colour of the crayon they would like you to "find" without looking eg. the red crayon.

Step 6: Feel your crayons behind your back until you find the identifying mark that matches the colour of the crayon chosen by your audience member. While you are feeling your crayons, pretend that you are concentrating extra hard to "sense" the different colours.

Step 7: Hold up the correct crayon in one hand. How did you do that? Incredible!

Note: Practice this trick at home before trying it at school.
