Suggested Materials: |
* 1 x toy giraffe (or other very common zoo animal eg. zebra, lion, hippo) |
Suggested Instructions: |
Step 1: At home, choose one very common zoo animal from your toy collection. It MUST be a common zoo animal for this trick to work eg. a giraffe, a zebra, a lion, a tiger, a hippo, a monkey etc. Hide your toy inside your bag ready to take to school. |
Step 2: Write the name of your animal in large letters on your office size paper eg. GIRAFFE. Fold your paper and seal it inside your envelope ready to take to school. |

Step 3: At school, prominently display your sealed envelope and your bag with its hidden contents. |

Step 5: What you really (secretly) write on your slip of paper, however, is the name of the animal you have hidden inside your bag and sealed envelope. If someone suggests "lion" you write "giraffe". If someone suggests "zebra" you write "giraffe". |
Step 6: As you write "giraffe" on each and every slip of paper, fold it and drop it into your box. Repeat until 8 volunteers have been asked for their suggestions. |
Step 7: Now give the contents of your box a quick mix with your hands and then ask one volunteer to choose one slip of paper from the box without looking and read it aloud. As every slip of paper will have "giraffe" written on it, the volunteer will |
Step 8: Now hand your sealed envelope to another volunteer and ask them to open it and read what is written on the piece of paper inside. Again they will say "giraffe". |
Step 9: For your final act of magic, reach inside your bag and hold up your toy giraffe. Watch your classmates' jaws drop! |
