Coin Trick

This quick and easy magic trick is interesting and fun and uses materials you may already have around your home.
Remember, it's always a good idea to practice at home first!

Suggested Materials:

* 3 x coins of different sizes and / or shapes
* 1 x small plastic container with a lid

Suggested Instructions:

Step 1: At home, take 3 different coins and place them into your container. Ask an adult to choose 1 of the coins and show the "audience" which coin they've selected. (Important: before they make their selection, turn your back so you don't see the coin they choose).

Step 2: Ask the adult to firmly squeeze the coin in their hand for about 1 minute. Pretend you are concentrating really hard so that you will know which coin they are holding.

Step 3: After a minute has passed ask the adult to return the coin to the container while you are not watching.

Step 4: Once the coin has been returned to the container, quickly turn around and feel all 3 coins. The coin which feels slightly warm is the coin the adult was holding. (Important: you must feel the coins quickly, otherwise the coin will lose its heat).

Step 5: Show the correct coin to the audience as a sign of your magical powers. Amazing!

Step 6: You may like to practice this trick a few times at home before trying it at school.

Step 7: At school, repeat Step 1 to Step 5. Ask your teacher to select and hold the coin because an adult's hand is larger than a child's hand and it will make the warm coin easier to detect.
