Swirly Rainbow Milk |
This science "trick" is truly spectacular and fun and may use materials you already have around your home. |
Suggested Materials: |
* 4 x different food colourings (eg. red, yellow, green, blue) |
Suggested Instructions: |
Step 1: At home, fill the bottom of your shallow dish with full cream milk and allow it to adjust to room temperature. |
Step 2: Carefully add a few drops of food colouring to 4 separate areas of your dish ie. a few drops of red in one spot, a few drops of yellow in another spot etc. You may find it easier to use an eye-dropper. |
Step 3: Gently squeeze one large drop of dishwashing detergent into the centre of your dish. |
Step 4: Wait and watch as the contents of your dish start to swirl around in a rainbow of colours. (If the swirling stops, you can always add another drop of dishwashing detergent). |
Step 5: You may like to practice this trick a few times at home before trying it at school. |
Step 6: At school, repeat Step 1 to Step 4. Ask your teacher for help if needed. |
