Amazing Paper Flower Bloom |
This super easy yet spectacular science "trick" uses materials you may already have around your home. |
Suggested Materials: |
* 1 x sheet of white paper |
Suggested Instructions: |
Step 1: Take your sheet of white paper and lead pencil and draw a circle for the centre of your flower. A circle about 10cm in diameter works well. |
Step 2: Add 8 finger-shaped petals each about 6cm long. The petals should not touch each other. Try to keep each petal 1cm or more apart (it does not need to be exact). |
Step 3: Decorate your flower with your colouring-in pencils. Perhaps add a smiley face. |
Step 4: Now cut your flower out and fold each separate petal into the middle of your flower. |
Step 5: Fill your large shallow plate with water and place your folded paper flower on top of the water in the middle of the plate with the petals facing up. |
Step 6: Watch in awe as the petals open one by one. |
Step 7: Practice this a few times at home, if necessary. |
Step 8: On the morning of your "Show and Tell" take a pre-prepared, folded flower to school (together with your plate and water) and show the class your spectacular science "trick"! You might want to make more than one flower so that classmates can try this out for themselves |
