Magic Interlocking Books |
This quick and easy science "trick" is fun and interesting and uses materials you may already have around your home. |
Suggested Materials: |
* 2 x 100+ page softcover books of the same dimensions (children's series books work well) |
Suggested Instructions: |
Step 1: At home, place your 2 books on a table so that they are side by side and touching each other. The spines of both books should be facing outwards so one book will be upside down. |
Step 2: Now lift the top cover plus all pages of one book with your right hand and the top cover plus all pages of the other book with your left hand. You can now clearly see the bottom covers of both books. |
Step 3: Overlap the bottom covers about half way into each book to begin the interlocking process. |
Step 4: Now slowly flip through the pages of each book, alternately overlapping the pages from each book as you go. Flip about 3 pages from one book and then about 3 pages from the other book until you have finished interlocking the pages of both books. |
Step 5: Try to pull the books apart and you will find that you can't. Amazing! They are very firmly locked together. |
Step 6: You may like to practice this trick a few times at home before trying it at school. |
Step 7: At school, repeat Step 1 to Step 5. Ask your teacher for help if needed. |
