UV Light Detecting Beads |
This quick and easy science "trick" is spectacular and uses inexpensive materials available online or from your local science shop. |
Suggested Materials: |
* Ultraviolet light detecting beads in various colours (available online or from your local science shop) |
Suggested Instructions: |
Step 1: At home, thread your beads onto your elastic to make a bracelet small enough to fit a child's wrist. You must do this indoors and away from sunlight. |
|
Step 2: Tie a firm knot in your elastic and place the bracelet on your wrist. At this stage, all your beads will be white. |
|
Step 3: Walk outside and expose your bracelet to sunlight. Watch the rainbow of colours that appear when your UV light detecting beads catch some sun. |
|
Step 4: At school, repeat Step 1 to Step 3.......OR take in a pre-prepared bracelet in a container so that it doesn't absorb any sunlight on the way to school. |
